As soon as I get in the car it is an automatic reflex for me to put on Radio 1. Over the last few weeks, along with many other listeners, I have followed a remarkable event that has taken place for Sport Relief.

John Bishop, an ordinary guy has just completed one week of absolute hell by cycling, rowing and running over 295 miles to raise money for children in Africa.
Starting on the 27th of February, Bishop began his week in Paris cycling across France, to then row across the channel to reach England. He then ran not one, but THREE marathons to reach his finishing point in London.
Each day Radio 1 has followed John, speaking to him regularly during the week to broadcast his mental and physical journey that in response has gained him a mass amount of support and sponsorships.
The week of hell Bishop has put himself through is all to raise money for vaccines for children in Africa.
After visiting the slums of Sierra Leone, John decided to embark on this intimidating journey in order to raise enough money to protect 250,000 children. The vaccines will protect the children against five deadly diseases allowing them to live a longer, healthier life.
Since the beginning of the event, John has raised a phenomenal total of £1,670,137 with money still rolling in for this amazing cause. To contribute your own donations go to the sport relief website where all the information is available.
